The Woodruff Community Center will be changing its focus in the near future. It did not receive a grant to continue its after-school program, which costs about $80,000 a year. It recently hired a part-time interim director, Lauren Lambert, to replace Eugenia Hooker who has resigned her position as director, and it has moved out of the old Northside School building on Washington and Peachtree Streets. Its office is now located at the Woodruff Free Medical Clinic on West Georgia Street. Continued... |

Last Friday, several hundred people—some strangers, some friends, bound together by shared suffering and shared joy—came to the tenth annual Woodruff Relay for Life to celebrate survival and work for a cure to cancer. The event brought in over $64,000 for cancer research—the second most of the four Relays held in the county—thanks to the passion and commitment of the area teams. Continued... |

School District Four met Monday night to discuss the 2008 - 2009 budget and conduct other business. A public hearing for the budget will be held at 6 p.m., June 23, at the district office, 118 McEdco Road, Woodruff. The budget totals $18,513,702, up $1,051,272, or 6.02 percent, from last year.
