Staff Writer lruss@hometown-news.com With the Wofford College dogs out for summer a new animal has taken over Russell C. King Field. The Spartanburg Blue Eagles baseball team has landed at Wofford for the summer season. When the Spartanburg Crickets emitted their last chirp at USC Upstate in 2007 it began their transformation into the Blue Eagles. Think along the lines of the Montreal Expos moving to Washington, DC to become the Nationals and that’s what happened here.

Bulldogs Beat Tigers for 4A Title 05/22/2008

Despite the huge throng of red-and-black clad fans behind the plate and down the rightfield line, last Wednesday’s 4A baseball championship didn’t feel much like a Boiling Springs game. There were no walk-off homers. No late-inning drama. No come-from-behind heroics for the Bulldogs. Those things simply weren’t needed.
