MARLA ROLISON BLACKWELL
Gaffney – Marla Rolison Blackwell, 45, of 450 Stateline Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Spartanburg, she was the wife of Tim Blackwell and the daughter of Linda Daniel Rolison Gilson and husband, Paul, of Gaffney and the late Ronald Jackson Rolison. She attended Woodruff High School, and was a graduate of Gaffney High School and The University of South Carolina at Spartanburg. She was a volunteer for Gaffney Youth Baseball for 18 years. Mrs. Blackwell was employed as a teacher with Cherokee County School District and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two sons, Jott Blackwell and wife, Casey, of Gaffney and Joshua Blackwell of the home; a daughter, Angel Blackwell, of the home; a brother, Brock Rolison and wife, Loretta, of Cowpens; a sister, Kayla Pilling and husband, Kevin, of Tampa, Fla.; three nephews, Wyatt Rolison, Terry Wayne Blackwell and Jason Blackwell, all of Gaffney; and two nieces, Tina Blackwell of Gaffney and Megan Newman of Tampa, Fla. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Blanton and Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Pallbearers were Terry Wayne Blackwell, Jason Blackwell, Tony Morris, Corby Rollins, Blake Wood and Brad Bright. Interment followed in the Blackwell Family Cemetery. EVELYN C. BROWN
Boiling Springs – Mrs. Evelyn Carroll Brown, 73, of 115 Fain Drive, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Hospice House of Spartanburg. She was the wife of the Rev. Ray M. Brown. Mrs. Brown was a native of Rutherford County, NC and the daughter of the late Hubert W. and Kathleen Walker Carroll. She was a former comptroller with Sparkie’s Cadillac & Oldsmobile and was a member of Grace and Truth Fellowship. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Daniel R. Brown of Covington, Ga. and daughter and son in law, Donna B. and Ben Jr. Dunagin of Spartanburg; brothers, Thomas C. Carroll of Doylestown, Penn. and James E. Carroll of Inman. Four grandchildren, Jonathan Ray and Elisabeth Grace Brown and April Schnibben and Matthew Dunagin also survive her. Visitation was held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Eggers Funeral Chapel officiated by the Revs. Bob McCurry and Richard Cole. RICKY DELL DIXON
Inman – Ricky Dell Dixon, 51, of 142 Riverbluff Road, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was survived by his long time companion, Kathy Lawson. Mr. Dixon was a native of Cherokee County and a son of Broughton and Frances Henderson Jolley. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School class of 1976 and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Ricky Dell Dixon II of Spartanburg; a daughter, Crystal Danielle Dixon of Asheville, NC; brother, Marty L. Dixon of Boiling Springs; sister and brother in law, Carolyn and Joey Blackwell; a niece and nephew, Wendy and Bryan Blackwell. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Funeral Services were conducted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Eggers Funeral Chapel officiated by Dr. David Lancaster and Pastor David Duncan. Interment was in Good Shepherd Memorial Park. DAVID A. EUBANKS
Wellford – David A. Eubanks, 60, of Wellford, died May 11, 2008 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. A native of Spartanburg County, son of Irene Mullinax Eubanks of Wellford and the late Elliott Eubanks, he was a former employee of Sybron and a member of Lyman First Baptist Church. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Margo of Easley; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Claude Foster of Raleigh, NC, Marian and Bill Brookshire of Taylors, Linda and Jud Vaughn of Hoschton, Ga., Judy and John Boyles of Duncan, and Jackie and Dean Owens of Emporia, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Lyman First Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Scott Stancil and Jay Thompson. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Friday at Lyman First Baptist Church. The family is at the home of his mother, Irene Eubanks. DONALD WATSON
ENOREE – Donald Moore Watson, 79, of 1750 Rocky Ridge Road, died Monday, April 28, 2008 after a long illness. A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Glover and Clorese Lamb Watson, the husband of Ruth Chaney Watson for over sixty years, a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, Custodian and Sunday School Clerk he was a member of the Enoree Masonic Lodge, a brick mason for Pettit Construction for over thirty years, he was retired from Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation and was a former Eagle Scout. In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Dennie M. Watson and wife Renee of Enoree; three daughters, Sandra Simmons Pitman and husband, Bobby, of Roebuck, Sharon W. Burch and husband Kenny of Enoree, and Amy Williams and husband, Wesley of Enoree; one brother, Charles Watson and wife Barbara of Enoree, one sister Elizabeth Casey and husband Neil of Spartanburg, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Forest Hills Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Elton Hunter and Jimmy Skinner. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Simmons, Travis Watson, Ryland Burch, Darren Burch, L.D. Starnes, and Joe Vaughn.
