Once a Gift, Grandfather Clock Still Ticking7/17/2008

Thomas Wolfe wrote in a book of the same name: “You Can’t Go Home Again!” For several days during recent Fourth of July and family reunion celebrations, Inman natives Paula Davenport Henson (husband-Keith, home-Knoxville, TN,) and Laura Davenport Cline (husband- Melvin, home-Belmont, NC) did just that.

Facility’s Residents Look Forward to Visits with ‘Rowdy’ Friend7/10/2008

Inman Healthcare is usually a fairly quiet facility, with staff and residents interacting and visitors coming and going. Once a week, though, Inman Healthcare gets Rowdy. It’s not a party or a wild celebration. Rowdy is a certified therapy dog who comes in with his owner, Christine McGahee, and makes the rounds visiting every resident who wants to see him. “It really means a lot to our residents,” Activities Director Sandra Nicholson said of Rowdy’s visits. “They look forward to it.”

Local Scout Earns Eagle Status7/3/2008

A local Scout has attained the rank of Eagle and carried on a family tradition while helping to restore a community park. Chad Pinker recently received his Eagle Scout certification, using the restoration of the Holly Springs Baptist Church “Spring” as his service project.

“Fight Back Express” Stops in Spartanburg6/19/2008

The “Fight Back Express” rolled into Spartanburg, at the Golden Corral on the west side of town last Sunday morning, its first of 10 stops in South Carolina. The stop was part of a nationwide bus tour sponsored by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) in order to make cancer a higher national priority by educating the public, lawmakers, candidates, and the media about the government’s role in defeating cancer.

It’s not often that Spartanburg County School District One Superintendent Dr. Jimmy Littlefield is surprised. Last Friday, though, a number of District employees got the best of him.
